Camouflage Printing Machine for Military Webbing & Tape
Your camouflage artwork has four colors. The webbing is tightly woven, comes on a roll, and looks fine for the first few meters. Then the second color starts to sit a little too far to one side. By the end of the roll, the pattern is visibly out of register. The screens are not always the problem. The tape path is.
That is the everyday challenge of camouflage printing on military webbing. A camouflage pattern is not a logo with four colors. It is a repeat where every color has to land in the same place, meter after meter, on a material that can stretch, wave, or change width under tension.
This page is about the machine that prints the visible camouflage pattern on military webbing and other narrow fabrics. It is a 4-color or 5-color narrow-fabric screen printing machine, not a wide-format printer for uniform fabric, tents, or camouflage nets. If your material is a roll of webbing, tape, elastic, or binding, you are in the right place. If you are printing 1.5 m wide fabric, this is not the right machine.
What This Camouflage Webbing Printing Machine Prints
A camouflage printing machine is a screen printing machine set up to print a multi-color camouflage pattern in register on a continuous material. On this page, it means a narrow-fabric machine for:
- Military webbing and tactical webbing
- Woven webbing in nylon, polyester, polyamide, cotton and blends
- Elastic tape and stretch tape
- 4-color and 5-color camouflage patterns; a 6-color configuration is available for special designs
The same platform is also used as a camouflage tape printing machine for non-military webbing and elastic tape where the pattern is decorative rather than IRR/NIR. The machine prints the pattern. It does not weave the webbing, coat it, or provide the IRR/NIR chemistry. We will come back to that last point because it matters for military projects.
Why Camouflage Screen Printing Is a Registration Problem
Camouflage screen printing is not CMYK printing. Each color is a separate screen and a separate print station. A four-color pattern has four stations; a five-color pattern has five. The pattern only works when every station puts its color in the same position on every repeat.
On a narrow fabric, three things make that difficult:
- The tape moves. Small changes in tension, edge position, or feed speed show up as color drift.
- The pattern repeats. A small error at the first station is repeated hundreds of times down the roll.
- The material is not paper. Heavy webbing can wave; elastic tape can stretch; coated webbing can change how the ink sits.
A normal logo job can hide a small shift in the design. Camouflage cannot. The pattern is the product. A shift at the edge shows up as a light halo around a dark shape, or a gap between two tones. Buyers of military webbing look at the edge, the repeat joint, and the color order. That is why this machine is set up around stable feeding and registration first, speed second.
4 Colors or 5 Colors: Which Camouflage Printing Machine Do You Need?
For the camouflage work we see, four colors is the practical minimum. Most military webbing patterns are built on four or five colors. Four colors cover many woodland, desert, and multi-tone patterns. A fifth color is usually added for a highlight, a deeper shadow or a small detail that cannot be built from the first four.
A 2-color or 3-color unit is for logos and simpler designs, not a full multi-tone camouflage pattern. More colors are not automatically better, either. Every extra station adds setup time, registration risk, machine length, and cost. The right question is not “Can I get five colors?” but “Does the fifth color do real work in my pattern?”
A practical way to decide:
- Send the artwork with color separations.
- Mark the colors that must be separate. If two tones can be achieved by overlapping the colors, you may not need a fifth station.
- Tell us the repeat and the substrate. A pattern that works on stiff cotton webbing may behave differently on stretch elastic.
- Ask for a test print. The printed repeat will tell you more than a color count on a quote.
The 4-color and 5-color configurations both run at up to 720 m/h per tape. The difference is not speed; it is how many colors you can put down in one pass and how much registration complexity you are willing to manage.
How Registration Is Held on a Moving Tape
The LX-303G platform uses servo-driven print stations and controlled tape feeding. The screen frame lift is servo-controlled, and the tape path is set for the material rather than a generic fabric. On elastic tape, the goal is to print without stretching the tape. On heavy webbing, the goal is to keep the edge tracking straight and the repeat consistent.
We do not publish a single ±mm registration number for camouflage work. That number would depend on the weave, thickness, elasticity, ink, pattern and speed. A figure measured on stiff cotton tape would not be honest on a stretch elastic. Instead, we test your material and show you the result. You can see the edge registration and the repeat joint on your own webbing before you buy.
If you need a number for an internal specification, send the material and the test conditions. We will tell you what we can verify and what we cannot.
Materials, Width and Repeat Limits
- Printing table: 300 × 700 mm
- Effective print area: 280 × 650 mm
- A single camouflage repeat needs to fit inside the 280 × 650 mm print window. If your repeat is longer, send it to us before you order; we will confirm whether it can be split or whether the pattern needs a different machine.
- The 280 mm width can be used for one wide tape or several narrower tapes, depending on the feeding fixture. We confirm the lane layout from your sample.
- Typical materials: military webbing, tactical webbing, woven nylon/polyester/polyamide/cotton webbing, elastic tape, cotton tape, binding tape, lanyards, shoelaces, and other narrow fabrics.
- Not for wide camouflage fabric: uniforms, tents, camouflage nets, or 1.5 m-wide rolls. This is a narrow-fabric machine.
We test the exact material before quoting. Webbing is not a generic substrate; the weave, thickness, coating and stretch all change how the ink sits and how the tape feeds.
A Note on IRR / NIR Camouflage
Some military webbing buyers require IRR or NIR performance: the finished webbing must behave in a certain way under night-vision or infrared equipment. That requirement is real, but it is not a feature of the screen printing machine alone. It depends on the ink chemistry, the base material, pre-treatment, curing and the buyer’s test standard.
We supply the machine that prints the camouflage pattern. We do not supply or guarantee IRR/NIR inks, NIR test data or the full production process. If your project has an IRR/NIR specification, validate it with your ink and chemical supplier, and test the finished webbing to your own standard. We can share a camouflage printing video and review your sample for visible pattern and registration; the IRR/NIR performance remains your process responsibility.
We would rather say this clearly before you buy than let you assume the machine alone can meet an IRR/NIR specification.

What to Send Before We Quote
Camouflage is not a stock pattern. To recommend the right configuration and confirm the machine, send:
- Artwork with color separations (AI, CDR, or PDF) and Pantone/color chips
- The base material: woven webbing, elastic tape, coated webbing, etc.
- Width, thickness, and stretch direction
- The pattern repeat and the maximum repeat you need
- Target output per hour or per shift
- A short sample roll and the finished product you want to match
We will review the pattern, tell you whether 4 or 5 colors is the right fit, and send a video of a comparable camouflage job so you can see the registration before you commit.
Installation and Service
Free on-site installation and training are included. The machine carries a 1-year warranty, and online support, documentation, and videos are available after installation. We can share a camouflage printing video before shipment and review your sample during the quote. If you need a test print on your own webbing, send a short roll with your artwork.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can this machine print a 4-color camouflage pattern?
A: Yes. Four colors is the minimum for most camouflage work and the most common configuration. The 4C machine has four print stations, with one screen per color.
Q: Do I need a 5-color machine?
A: Not automatically. A fifth color helps when the artwork has a highlight, a deeper shadow or a detail that cannot be built from four colors. Send the separated artwork, and we will tell you whether the fifth station adds real value or just cost.
Q: Can it print 5-color military webbing?
A: Yes. The 5C configuration is built for five-color work on military webbing and other narrow fabrics. It runs at up to 720 m/h per tape, with the same 280 × 650 mm print area.
Q: What is the maximum print width and repeat?
A: The effective print area is 280 × 650 mm. A single repeat must fit inside that window. If your repeat is longer, send it before you order; we will confirm whether it can be split or whether you need a different machine. The 280 mm width can cover one wide tape or several narrower tapes, depending on the fixture.
Q: Can it print on elastic tape?
A: Yes, but elastic is a different feeding problem. The tape must be controlled so it does not stretch during printing. Send a sample; we will test the tension setup and show you the registration on your material.
Q: Can it print nylon, polyester, or cotton webbing?
A: These are common narrow-fabric materials, but the ink and process must match the material and finish. Send the exact webbing and your fastness requirement; we will confirm what to test. We do not recommend a generic ink for every webbing.
Q: Can it print wide camouflage fabric for uniforms or tents?
A: No. This is a narrow-fabric machine with a 280 mm print width. Wide camouflage fabric, tents, and camouflage nets need a different machine. If you are not sure which category your material falls into, send the width and a photo.
Q: Does the machine guarantee IRR or NIR performance?
A: No. The machine prints the visible camouflage pattern. IRR/NIR performance depends on the ink, base material, pre-treatment, curing, and your test standard. We do not supply or guarantee IRR/NIR chemistry or test data. Validate the finished webbing with your ink/chemical supplier.
Q: What speed can I expect?
A: Up to 720 m/h per tape for 4C and 5C, and up to 710 m/h for 6C. Actual output depends on the pattern, ink, material, and drying. A complex five-color pattern on heavy webbing will not run at the same speed as a simple design on light tape.
Q: Can you send a video or test my sample?
A: Yes. Ask for the camouflage printing video, or send a short sample roll with your artwork. We will show you the machine running a comparable pattern and review the registration on your material.
Q: What is the warranty and installation support?
A: One-year warranty. Free on-site installation and training. Online support, documentation, and videos. We can also review your sample and artwork before the machine is shipped.
